The bonded trumpeter swans Mango (male) and Charlotte (female) were separated due to Mango getting hurt.
A Toronto Wildlife Centre volunteer spotted Mango with rose-tinted feathers. The swan was hurt badly. His beak was oozing, turning his beautiful white feathers red. The reason for the beak cut could have been a fishing hook or shattered glass pieces.Â

Soon after, the swan was captured by the volunteers and taken in for examination. Medical tests were run on him to check for other/internal damage. The staff at TWC cleaned the swan and provided for him.
Mango had been admitted last year in December due to fishing line hassle. The fishing line tied his tongue and beak, creating an urgent medical emergency.
After his recovery, the trumpeter swan was released in Bluffer’s Park, East Toronto where Charlotte was searching already for him.
Trumpeter swans, as the name suggests, are known for honking. Mango recognized his mate’s honk and echoed back, leading to this cute moment captured on camera.
The pair had a ‘’dance’’ to celebrate their union.
