Not just consumers & online influencers, people from the silver screen were found flaunting ColourPop Lip Paint at multiple red carpets award. Mentions, special mentions and features from online platforms like Refinery 29 and Temptalia are just cakewalks for ColourPop. Their Moonwalk Collection took not more than a few hours to get a full house stock-out!

So let’s dig in to see if they are truly cruelty free or not? Here’s the inside story.

Colourpop – Past & Present

2014: Colourpop Cosmetics, commonly known as ColourPop, is a purely American brand founded in 2014. The makers of this brand are Laura and John Nelson, two beauty enthusiasts from a family of cosmetic manufacturers. ColourPop started as just another online-only makeup brand under parent brand, Seed Beauty. Yes, this is the same Seed Beauty that owns Kylie Cosmetics.

ColourPop’s founder member Laura and John’s father owns Spatz Laboratories. Many well known makeup brands such as Kylie Cosmetics and ColourPop hire Spatz for base level manufacturing and packaging of their products.

In its small lifespan of 6 years, ColourPop has decocted the secrets of every makeup lover. They focus on cost-effective makeup with premium quality. ColourPop makes the best use of web-world endorsements to promote their products.

Youtubers like Zoella, Becky G, Safiya Nygaard, James Charles and Kathleen Lights never stop singing praises of this brand. Their collaborations with Hello Kitty and James Charles need special mention. ColourPop’s products even got featured by famous online platform Refinery29. Currently this brand is available at its own stores and website, Amazon, Sephora and ULTA.

What the brands says about their Cruelty Free Outlook?

One can see ColourPop’s official testing policy on the bottom of their website.

We are 100% fur baby friendly, bunny approved, and only test our products on humans – the ones in our HQ to be exact!

ColourPop is very passionate about animals and does not condone animal testing in any way. We are extremely proud to be cruelty free! No outside company tests on animals for us and none of our suppliers test on animals.”

The statement says, they don’t run cruelty based tests on animals. Instead, they use human volunteers to test their products. They even mentioned the name of their California headquarters as the place for these safety tests. Colourpop does not hire any third party laboratories to test their products for them. ColourPop makes sure to buy ingredients from cruelty-free suppliers only.

It is quite important to note that I of all people would love to be at their HQ to personally test their awesome products. So if you’re a brand person reading this, feel free to hire me. Shameless plug ends here.

Cruelty Free Timeline

Since its launch in 2014, ColourPop keeps itself ‘fur baby friendly’. We don’t have the exact time when ColourPop gained its PETA certification. However, ColourPop is an active follower of PETA’s Beauty without Bunnies program. PETA itself endorses some of ColourPop’s products in its website as substitutes of some bestselling non-cruelty free products.

Is it vegan?

Colourpop is not an entire vegan brand because some ColourPop products contain ingredients coming from animal by-products. However, Colourpop has good vegan options in their collection.

They mark their vegan friendly products with a tag in their website’s product description pages. You can easily identify which one is vegan and which one is not.

Do we recommend ColourPop?

These shadows will truly leave you super shocked! See what I did there? Okay!

No need to talk about the color range; each and every shade is gorgeous. You get various finishes in the range. Do try the glitter, satin, matte, metallic, ultra ones. The main attraction is staying power and blendability. Just pick some product and apply on your lids. It will stay at least 8-9 hours without budging. That’s what we call an eyeshadow!

Personally, I love to swatch these babies. It is kinda satisfying.

3. ColourPop Ultra Glossy Lip

These are cushion lip glosses with ethereal glam glowing finish. Unlike the majority of lip glosses, these are not at all sticky. I know how bothersome it feels when hair strands get trapped in lip gloss. I’ve faced it too, but that doesn’t stop me from bracing glosses in today’s era of matte lippies.

The range is extensive. You get reds, pinks, peaches & nudes. There is every possible shade you would ever wear. You can also use these cruelty-free and vegan glosses as lip toppers. It is available in sheer, crème and metallic finishes.

4. Brow Boss Pencil

This one is a gem product for every cruelty free and vegan makeup lover. These long-wear eyebrow pencils make your brows look naturally fuller. The waxy pencil sets your unruly brows neatly. It is a great product for beginners. The texture of this pencil is designed to give you ample amount of time to correct your mistakes. Available in 8+ shades.

5. California Love Eyeshadow Palette

There are countless bestsellers from ColorPop’s eyeshadow range till now. But, California Palette is definitely the most notable warm palette. It has a sunset toned color scheme & looks so pretty!

Yellow, rose gold, terracotta, chestnut and even an orange red is there in this palette. The mattes of this palette are superb in terms of pigmentation and stay time. The metallic golden, brown and rose gold have the exact amount of oomph you need. Do try this palette if you’re into warm shades!
