Last Updated on 05/25/2023

NYX is cruelty feee. It has confirmed that it doesn’t test on animals by itself or via suppliers or any third-party. NYX also doesn’t sell in countries where testing is required by law.

A popular choice for cruelty-free drugstore brands is NYX Cosmetics. But is this LA-based makeup brand ethical? Is NYX cruelty-free or vegan in 2023?

Does NYX test on Animals?

Nyx Animal Testing

Here is what NYX Cosmetics says about its animal testing policy,

“NYX Professional Makeup is certified and acknowledged by PETA as a cruelty-free brand. We are committed to producing cruelty-free cosmetics. We do not test any of our products on animals.”

Right now, in 2023, it is 100% cruelty-free as it doesn’t;t engage in animal testing either actively (by itself) or passively (via third parties).

Cruelty-Free Timeline

Since 2010, NYX products carried the famous PETA bunny logo and is a participant in the Beauty Without Bunnies program. When NYX got acquired, the parent brand of NYX decided to keep the cruelty-free status unchanged.

Is NYX Cruelty-Free?

Yes, NYX is cruelty-free and it does not test any of its finished product or ingredients on animals.

As you’re already aware, some countries like China have animal testing as mandatory procedure. This PETA-certified brand does not sell its products in such regions.

Is NYX Vegan?

No, NYX is not entirely vegan. It does offer vegan options. So Nyx is vegan-friendly but not 100% vegan.

Nyx offers many vegan products such as NYX Butter Gloss, Lip Lingerie, Can’t Stop Won’t Stop, Born to Glow… all these famous ranges are completely vegan!

Do I recommend Nyx Cosmetics?

NYX makes some of the best drugstore makeup products. The brand gained its cruelty-free status after an extensive process by PETA. Overall, an amazing drugstore brand I highly recommend.

  1. Wait, eyeliner CUM eyeshadow sticks?? Lmao…does that mean what it sounds like…? I know it’s not really made of that lmao, it just sounds weird lol…either way I’m glad Nyx is cruelty free! It’s a great brand too!

  2. Thank you so much for these articles. I am so disgusted at the loopholes and lies these companies tell us and get away with. My hope USB that more people are like me and do a lot of research before they buy a product. I want to know that the products I use are cruelty free and vegan!

    Much appreciated

  3. Hi Kelly! Thank you so much for taking out time and leaving this sweet comment. Comments like these really motivate and realize that we’re ACTUALLY making a difference with our small initiative. 🙂 I also hope more consumers, animal lovers, and pet owners become aware of this ugly side of the business.
